On 3rd May, Mellieħa A.C. once again organised its flagship event – the Mellieha Races.
This time it was bigger than ever, as for the first time a 5km road race was introduced alongside the 10km road race and walkathon. A 2km road race was once again organised for kids and a 1km Fun Run for the youngest.

As the sun shone brightly, 119 athletes went through the whole 10km route with all its undulating hills but equally nice scenery. 61 other athletes opted for the 5km brand new route, where endurance was sacrificed for pace.

While a number of Mellieħa A.C. athletes sacrificed their participation to ensure that everything went well for their fellow athletes, the ones who raced made the club proud.

At the 5km race, the first three finishers were the club athletes Alan Camilleri, Chris Mizzi and Charlot Bartolo. Lucy Ann Muscat and Rachel Debono ensured a Mellieha female presence on the podium with a first and third position respectively.
Naomi Said was the second female finisher.

Mellieħa A.C.’s own Stephen Borg won the 10km race, followed by Adrian Zerafa and Noel Spiteri.
Catherine Chetcuti was the first female in, followed by Lorraine Xuereb and Marouska Falzon Cutajar.

Further results can be found here.

Once again Mellieħa A.C. provided an ideal atmosphere for local road runners, kids and newcomers in the world of sport.
