Mellieħa A.C. athletes awarded in the 2013/14 MAAA Road Running & Cross Country Awards

On Friday, 10th October, MAAA organised its Road Running and Cross Country Awards.

After a whole season, where the club fully contributed to the MAAA Road Running League with big numbers, it was now MAAA’s turn to acknowledge our athletes contribution.

Andrew Grech, Stephen Borg and Julian Borg finished 2nd, 4th and 8th respectively in the association’s 2013-14 Road Running League placed our club in the 2nd position.

The following Mellieħa A.C. athletes won their Age-Group Category:

Clinton Aquilina:                               Males Over 25

Charlon Cutajar:                               Males Over 30

Kevin Camilleri:                                 Males Over 40

Charmaine Mifsud:                         Females Over 40

Ralph Attard:                                     Males Over 55

Joseph Farrugia:                               Males Over 60


The Mellieha ladies mirrored the men’s performance placing 2nd, as Rita Galea and Lucy Ann Muscat placed 4th and 6th respectively in the Road Running League that is made up of 5 races.

Marthese Mercieca and Caroline Ciappara won the Women Over 30 and Over 35 Categories respectively.

The association also handed the awards for its Masters’ 10k Race which was held in Marsascala on a rainy April morning.

Rita Galea registered the Best Female Technical Performance, while Donatelle Camilleri followed in the 3rd position.

Mario Agius won the Males Over 35 while Joseph Farrugia won the Males Over 60.

Our Nursery was also represented by Jessica Muscat who placed 2nd amongst the Girls Youths born in 1999 in the Endurance League for Youths and Cadets.

The MAAA Road Running League for 2014-15 will start on Saturday 18th October, and our club will once again be represented by big numbers, each individual finding a source in such races for inner improvement.  Winning will be the outcome.
